Who We Are & What We Do

NextWave Camp has assembled a very unique experience designed to connect youth football players (ages 5-14) to high school programs by exposing them to every aspect of the sport including performance, branding and beyond. We have developed a great culture of volunteers from high school and college players to professionals in their respective fields who want to give back and help the NextWave of student athletes.

With support from local high school athletic departments and Prince George’s County Parks & Recreational department, we are able to provide the unique NextWave showcase for local youth sports programs. We have created a “4 wins” environment in the culture of youth athletics:

  1. Youth - Players practice skills playing football while interacting with high school, college players and coaches.

  2. High School Sports Program - High Schools host a showcase and observe local talents including various drills and skills of players entering high school. Using our custom Analytics platform (app), coaches and recruiters can move beyond the basic “eye test” and use technology and data for analytics.

  3. Volunteers - Adults who are interested in volunteering as youth coaches. Parents encouraged to volunteer and assist in one of many drill stations.

  4. Companies/Corporations - Support to local youth programs; can donate and or sponsor goods or services to build awareness and present opportunities for more partnerships.

My Why

As a youth immigrant-refugee from the country of Liberia, West Africa, my interest in playing the sport for football came about in the earlier 90’s. As an upcoming 5th grader, I was introduced to a football camp in which the cost was much greater than what my family was able to afford at the time. I decided in my earlier 20’s to make a decision to live my life with purpose and I was going to give back. At 33 years old I started coaching my nephew football team; realizing this was the opportunity for me to do for him and his generation what I wished someone who had done for me as a youth football player. Hosting a local youth camp that was affordable and resourceful, I called all my former college and high school teammates and friends and told them about my idea of hosting youth skills camp. We decide to add in local law enforcement, nutritionists, motivational speakers, athletic trainers, chiropractors, semi-professional football players, financial advisors and college football coaches. On July 29, 2016 and each year thereafter we have held successful camps with a steady increase of players.

Mission

Our Mission is to create a culture and community in which youth players (ages 5-14) can have full exposure to every aspect of football activity-performance, branding and beyond. We are committed to providing exceptional, comprehensive and personalized showcase camp services to help the youth in our communities play the great sport of football while effectively helping parents and schools manage student-athlete on and off the field. We believe in a fast-changing Facebook, Snapchat, Instragram and Twitter-social media world . We help athletes understand their brand is our business. We have partnerships with non-profit programs; science, technology, engineering and mathematics (S.T.E.M) programs; education programs; trade programs and multi-media/entertainment programs. We encourage better health management, while respecting individual needs and goals beyond playing on the field. We strive to offer our partnership access to innovative branding companies and technological advancement in sports performance services without compromising the importance of preparation beyond sports in terms of education and life styles.
